Emergency Department -
Chest Radiographs

Findings:

• Lesion in the left upper zone (LUZ).
• Enlarged left hilum.
• Azygos node (region) also enlarged.

Impression: bronchial carcinoma with lymphadenopathy.

Report along these lines:

Important finding: a well defined density in the right lower zone (RLZ). No calcification. This might be an old granuloma but it could well be a primary bronchial carcinoma.

Incidental finding: a hiatus hernia is noted.

Follow up: proven bronchial carcinoma.

• Ring shadows at the base of the right lung.
• There might well be some ring shadows in the left lung as well. In addition, a strong suspicion of dilated or plug filled bronchi at the left lung base.
• Otherwise, an unremarkable CXR.

Diagnosis: Bronchiectasis.

Observations:

Dense mass in the upper zone of the right lung. No other adverse finding.

Bones - ie the ribs - are unremarkable.

Impression:

Bronchial carcinoma situated in the right upper lobe.
