CASE 1

HISTORY	HISTORY 59 YO. Fell down stairs. Pain in the hip.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal or abnormal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW Subcapital fracture with evidence of impaction. Neck of right femur. This is the major abnormality. In addition, the right greater trochanter - arguably - shows an additional fracture. The lateral radiograph would need to be scrutinised very carefully.

CASE 2

HISTORY	HISTORY Road Traffic Accident (RTA). Front seat passenger. Severe pain in the hip.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal or abnormal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW Fracture of the left acetabulum. A large displaced (triangular) fragment is evident on this AP radiograph.

CASE 3

HISTORY	HISTORY Patient age 72 years. Fall. Hip pain and cannot weight bear on one side.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal or abnormal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW Fracture of the neck of the right femur. The lateral view demonstrates this intertrochanteric fracture very clearly.

CASE 4

HISTORY	HISTORY Elderly patient. Fell. Hip pain.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal or abnormal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW Subcapital fracture of the neck of the right femur. Note the slight angulation of the neck on the right side as compared with the left side. (There is a suggestion / possibility of old fractures of the right superior and inferior pubic rami).
