CASE 1

HISTORY	HISTORY Case 29. Male aged 4. Fell off a scooter yesterday. Swelling around the left wrist. Reduced movement.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW The lateral view is key: angulation of the dorsal cortex of the distal radius. CONCLUSION: fracture of the distal radius.

CASE 2

HISTORY	HISTORY Case 28. Male aged 39. Fell from a ladder whilst painting the ceiling. Hit knee against a coffee table during the fall.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW Both the frontal and lateral radiographs show an undisplaced fracture through the neck of the fibula. All other appearances are within normal limits. Conclusion: Fibula fracture.

CASE 3

HISTORY	HISTORY Case 27. Male aged 25. Tripped and fell off a curb whilst looking at his mobile 'phone. Also a suggestion of alcohol ++. Woke up the next morning with a sore foot.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW An undisplaced fracture of the calcaneum is shown on these (standard) foot radiographs. A lateral view of the hindfoot - and an axial view of the calcaneum - will confirm the diagnosis. Elsewhere the appearances (including those of the metatarsals and the Lisfranc joints) are within normal limits. SUMMARY: Calcaneal fracture.

CASE 4

HISTORY	HISTORY Case 26. Male aged 26. Inversion injury when playing football. Tender over the midfoot and hindfoot.
QUESTION	QUESTION Normal?
RADIOGRAPHS	RADIOGRAPHS
ANSWER	ANSWER VIEW The appearances are within normal limits. No fracture identified.
